Canyon Graffiti

Cherry Burl Vase with
Handmade Apple Limb Ladder

When working on this piece, I was constantly reminded of Montezuma Castle, located in the Verde Valley of Arizona...

The Sinaquas who inhabited Montezuma castle were an ancient Indian Tribe who built  cliff dwellings about 700 years ago in the early 1300s.

Measures 9.5"  tall
and  3.5" in diameter. Approximately 1/2" thick. Hand rubbed oil finish.
IF you look
INSIDE the vessel
through this hole ----->
you will see written:
"Laughing Buffalo was here", this is how the piece got its name.
If you care to know the whole 'process' of how this piece came to be, feel free to call.  For now, let's just say it was a way of bringing some levity and  humor to woodturning! Curiously enough, after googling  "Laughing Buffalo",  I did find:
Tae-Gle-Ha, or Laughing Buffalo, a person from the late 1700's....

The ladder is assembled using crab apple limbs that I tied together using hemp.
